So when the news hit in early February that the event was coming back to Spring, and as the biggest show yet, I was pretty happy. Of course life had different plans and that same weekend was both my oldest son’s Prom, and my youngest Pinewood Derby council level race. So I thought there was a good chance I wouldn’t be able to attend MGC for this show. Luckily, the Prom being a Friday, and the race a Sunday, meant I could sneak in a Saturday trip to MGC, but I had to prepare for a long, and tiring weekend to do it.
Welcome to another 8-Bit Friday, this time is the 2600 Conquest. Basically, I’m going to try to play 23 Atari 2600 games that have been in my gaming backlog since 2018, as well as using the Retron 77’ my wife… Continue Reading →
There is an old adage “History is Written by the Victors!”. It’s meant to imply that history, and how things are generally remembered, may be swayed by those who came out on top. That is unless, you dig a little… Continue Reading →
Well, another week survived! This one went quick and without a lot of annoyances, which makes me nervous about what this next week may bring. But hey, I got a few beers in on the long train ride home, and… Continue Reading →
So as indicated last week the games are piling up again, especially for the PS1, but this weekend although tenuous, should have a bit of room to get into a few titles. This Weeks Buys: As previously indicated I’m trying… Continue Reading →
Well here we are, after several weeks I’m finally getting the chance to write another 8-bit Friday’s entry. It’s been a tough one since the weekends have been hectic for a number of reasons. Here we are though with a… Continue Reading →
One of my New Years resolutions for this year was to get myself an Atari Lynx, and round about February I did, thanks to Best Electronics. I’d pretty much been shopping for a Lynx since October of 2015 after I… Continue Reading →
I seek to answer the question is it an iCade or just iCandy? On a hot summer day in 2014 my family and I set out for the Underground Retrocade in West Dundee, IL. It had been years since I… Continue Reading →
The continuing saga of gaming versus time, while being a responsible adult. I’ve had some pretty odd times as far as gaming goes since my last 8-bit Friday’s posting. By that I mean opportunities have presented themselves that have allowed me… Continue Reading →
It’s weird to hear the name Coleco being thrown around again as a hot topic, and even being dragged through the mud. Right now the big topic is the Coleco Chameleon, with its Phoenix like resurrection from the flames of… Continue Reading →
I’m always amazed at how quickly I have grown my Atari 2600 collection. A year ago I didn’t even own a 2600, but by New Years I had 90 games, and now 6 months later I have +/- 200. Of… Continue Reading →
As many of you may know from reading some my previous articles, I’ve always been somewhat of a big flight sim nut. This is part of the reason why my initial NES collection was filled with aviation-based games, and many… Continue Reading →
I ended up picking up this 5200 for a heck of a price on eBay. It was one of those instances where the seller “couldn’t test the system, but it worked the last time he played it”. So with the… Continue Reading →
“It’s a really great game, do you have it in your collection?” “Yes I do” he says with hesitation, “And from the 60 seconds of it I played, it does seem like a really great game!” “60 seconds?”, his friend… Continue Reading →
To me the NES is the epitome of a retro gaming system. As big of a fan of Atari as I am, there’s nothing like the feel of opening the door on the NES, putting the cartridge in, pushing it… Continue Reading →
