The 8-bit Friday Diaries – September 20th, 2019

Armored Core V: Verdict Day (Xbox 360) ⭐⭐⭐ – I’ve heard a lot about the Armored Core games, and this is my first foray into the franchise.I have to say I’m not impressed overall, other mech games in the same vein like the Front Mission franchise are a lot more engaging in storyline, and even better in gameplay. Know keep in mind I don’t know much else about the Armored Core series, so perhaps I’m passing judgement to early since it seems to be a fan favorite with a cult following.

8-bit Fridays: Lost Weekend’s and Cheap Thrills

A year ago last weekend I was in Milwaukee for Midwest Gaming Classics. It was my intention to go again this year, but due to an endless string of flu and other illness it became pretty clear at the beginning… Continue Reading →

8-bit Friday’s: The Backlogs – 2016’s Unplayed

It’s been a while since I’ve done an 8-bit Friday, and even longer since I’ve done a backlog posting. To be honest the end of 2016 left me with a large load of unplayed games, despite not buying much in… Continue Reading →

8-bit Fridays: The Diaries – September 23, 2016

With the stressful Monday morning meeting I mentioned last week past, the remaining week got strange whereby the remaining stressful events seemed to fall off my calendar, sadly delaying themselves for the next week. Of course that sounds pleasant, but… Continue Reading →

8-bit Fridays: The Backlogs II – August 26, 2016

It’s been a disturbingly quiet week for me, but hopefully that means the weekend will be quiet too. With that said I was surprised to get about an hour and a half of game play in shortly after getting home… Continue Reading →

The Retro Gaming Price Bubble is Nothing New: Comparing Electric Trains and Video Games

Classic Lionel Santa Fe F3 with the NES and SNES When it comes to the classic video game market we’re currently experiencing, I suddenly find myself having déjà vu. I guess this is because I’m in the very unique position of… Continue Reading →

The Return of 8-bit Fridays

There is definitely something about Friday nights and gaming that seems inseparable. To me there was nothing like being a kid and coming home from that last long day of school for the week, with its spelling tests, math tests… Continue Reading →

A Bit of an Issue

My son asks, “Hey Dad, why is it called the Nintendo 64?” To which I reply, “Because it came out in 1964!” being a smart ass. At first he accepts this answer, but about 5 seconds later he bounces back with,… Continue Reading →

A Look at the Evolution on Controllers

To me controllers are the unsung heroes of video gaming. Everyone talks about the consoles and the games but the controllers get very little attention in the grand scheme of things. Sure we might say a controller is good or… Continue Reading →

Keeping it Real (Time)!

So it’s winter which means that the weather has given us a good excuse to sit around and play video games without the guilt of wasting a nice day. For me I have finally had a chance to play Halo… Continue Reading →

Rethinking Gen 6's Retro Status or Lack There Of

A couple of months back I wrote an article named PS1 Retro or the Start of a New Era and in it I asked why the PS1 is so controversial as a retro gaming system. To say the least I got precisely… Continue Reading →

"By the Might of Zaxxon, I will Avenge Thee!"

What is that title over the top? You have to admit Zaxxon is a great Sci-Fi word. Now that I have that out of my system……. I think we all know that Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope) impacted… Continue Reading →
