Alternative Investing: The Collector Paradox

Buying into a hobby or some other material item as an investment, isn’t new to the 80’s with electric trains or now days with retro video games. In the late-90’s and early 2000’s comic books were the investment fad, and that market crashed, and crashed hard, leaving many investors deeply in the red. In the 70’s the big investment trend was antique’s, mostly furniture and knick-knacks.

2020 Gamers News Years Resolutions

Following 2018, 2019 gaming wise has been another slow gaming year, and like 2018 compared to previous years my game purchases and consumption of said games, hasn’t been the highest. I did add a PSP to my collection, as well as a PS Classic, and Atari handheld. Of course last but certainly not least I added a long awaited Moon Patrol arcade machine to my collection without much time to play it.

The 8-bit Friday Diaries – September 27, 2019

A Boy and His Blob (Wii) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐- First of all I’m going to say that this is one of the best looking and beautifully well done games I’ve ever seen. The animation is beyond top notch, and plays smoothly while conveying the innocent and wondrous world A Boy and His Blob occurs in.

Minefaire Chicago 19’

It’s hard to believe it’s been 8 years since Minecraft hit the internet and became a true gaming sensation worldwide, especially among young players. Although the game has had its challengers such as Roblox, Fortnite and others, it’s proven its… Continue Reading →

Armored Core V: Verdict Day (Xbox 360) ⭐⭐⭐ – I’ve heard a lot about the Armored Core games, and this is my first foray into the franchise.I have to say I’m not impressed overall, other mech games in the same vein like the Front Mission franchise are a lot more engaging in storyline, and even better in gameplay. Know keep in mind I don’t know much else about the Armored Core series, so perhaps I’m passing judgement to early since it seems to be a fan favorite with a cult following.

The 8-bit Friday Diaries – September 6, 2019

Ok, it’s been forever since I wrote one of these last. To be honest I’ve had a few job changes since I wrote my last 8-bit Friday Dairy article in August of 2017. Lets just say that I’ve bought a… Continue Reading →

Video Game Summit 19’

My eldest son commented the other day that, “I was the man who knew when all the ‘Cons’ were”. To which case I felt a little baffled, but as I thought about it I realized I’d been to three different… Continue Reading →

80’s Talk: Summoning Richard Simmons

Richard Simmons, is one of those pop culture characters that screams 1980’s. He was highly energetic, eccentric, colorful, made his own music videos, and had a talk show, all the qualifications for being an 80’s icon. On top of that he was a staple of 80’s talk and game shows, and was known to drive Johnny Carson and David Letterman nuts with his manic personality. Last but not least of course, to be completely 80’s, he had his own exercise videos on par with Jane Fonda and her very 80’s aerobic videos.
